The Wall and Access to Education in Abu Dis

A moving article at unicef.org describes the struggle of teachers and students in the Jerusalem suburb of Abu Dis to travel to their preschool on the other side of the separation wall. The piece describes one teacher’s daily routine of guiding a group of small children through an Israeli checkpoint. It also observes that more than fifty children have left the school since the erection of the barrier, often for overcrowded and underfunded schools in other parts of Abu Dis.
