The United Nations Special Committee on Israeli Practices in the Occupied Territories denounced Israeli treatment of West Bank Palestinian children during arrest and detention. The committee identified the solitary confinement of children as a particularly heinous practice, and stated that the issue “links to broader, longstanding concerns regarding Israeli detention of Palestinians generally.”
The Special Committee will present a mission report to the UN General Assembly at November 2012, with its observations and recommendations to improve the human rights situation for those whose lives are affected by occupation.
